Peter Fadde, Ph.D.
Chief Science Officer and Founder
Peter is professor and director of the Learning Systems Design and Technology (LSDT) graduate program at Southern Illinois University.
He also served for 13 seasons as athletic video coordinator at Purdue University, where he earned masters and doctoral degrees.
Dr. Fadde originated the Expertise-Based Training (XBT) method that has been used to train expert situation awareness in domains ranging from sports to firefighting to classroom teaching. He has presented XBT research at the Inter Agency Industry Training, Simulation, and Education Conference (I/ITSEC), including the 2010 I/ITSEC education division paper-of-the-year.
Recently, Dr. Fadde was invited to speak on Virtual Reality for Sports Training at the MIT/Sloan Sports Analytics Conference and SXSW Interactive. He has presented more than 60 academic papers and published more than 30 peer-reviewed scientific articles and chapters, along with the Amazon e-book The Sixth Tool: Training Pitch Recognition.
He used the video-occlusion method to test the Pitch Recognition of hundreds of minor league hitters and more than 50 Cape Cod Baseball League players, creating a normed database used by several MLB organizations and D-1 college programs.
Peter has developed patent-pending computer software for baseball/softball pitch recognition and tennis stroke recognition and was named SIU’s Innovator-of-the-Year in 2013.
